Tel Aviv: Israel and Hamas have agreed to a two-day extension of the Gaza truce, avoiding an immediate return to hostilities as hostage and prisoner exchanges continue. Qatar, with support from the US and Egypt, facilitated the extension, providing relief amid international pressure.

Hamas, confirmed the agreement, intending to release more hostages. Israel, complying with the truce, informed families of hostages to be released.

While both sides face pressure to address humanitarian concerns, the respite aims to allow Hamas to release additional hostages held since their October 7 attack. The international community, including US President Biden, encourages a lasting truce and humanitarian relief. The UN calls for independent investigations into alleged war crimes during the conflict.
